  Every successful excursion depends on ample acclimatization time. The Peruvian mountain ranges have a mountain for everybody, from beginners, to those with experience in technical ice and mountain climbing. Each excursion is supported by experienced porters, and guides certified by the UIAGM. Our clients are only required to carry their personal and climbing equipment.

 
     
 
HUASCARÁN

Altitude: 6768 msnm
Level: Dificult

Huascaran is a lofty goal for many mountaineers, it is the highest mountain in Peru and one of the highest mountains in South America. Like all of the mountains in the Cordillera Blanca, the route lines change every year, and even the easiest route is technical. However, from the top of Huascaran, one can enjoy unrivalled views of the entire Huaylas valley. Climbing Huascaran requires excellent physical conditioning and acclimatization.

ALPAMAYO

Altitude: 5947 msnm
Level: Technical

Awarded the title of the most beautiful mountain in the world by a panel in Berlin in 1965, Alpamayo is a  technical mountain, but well-worth the climb. Climbers don´t reach the characteristic 500m 65º  ice wall until the third camp, which lies at the base of the stunning wall. Alpamayo also requires thorough acclimitization.

VALLUNARAJU

Altitude: 5686 msnm
Level: Intermediate

Vallunaraju is visible from the center of Huaraz, and because of its proximity to Huaraz and relatively lower altitude, it is often used to acclimatize. Vallunaraju has two defined summits (the north one being slightly higher), from where one can enjoy views of all of Huaraz and part of the Huaylas Valley.

ISHINCA

Altitude: 5530 msnm
Level: Intermediate

Ishinca is a great acclimatization mountain due to its proximity to Huaraz and the relatively non- technical nature of its routes. The original routes climbs the Southwest ridge, but the normal route used today climbs the Northwest ridge.  This little mountain is flanked by the stunning mountains of Ranrapalca (6162 m.) and Palcaraju (6272 m.), and Urus and Tocllaraju can be climbed via the same base camp.

URUS

Altitude: 5495 msnm
Level: Intermediate

The climb up Urus originates in the Ishinca valley, where the climbs for Ishinca and Tocllaraju also begin. As Urus poses no technical challenges,  no previous experience is necessary, only the belief that you can do it. This mountain is located in the Macizo de Chinchey, the  overarching name for the valley, glaciers and surrounding mountains, and is also chosen frequently to acclimate.

TOCLLARAJU

Altitude: 6034 msnm
Level: Intermediate / Technical

Tocllaraju is one of the most classic mountains over 6,000m in the Cordillera Blanca mountain range, and easily accessed from the Ishinca valley. The summit forms the shape of a pyramid, from where its Quechua name is derived, meaning something along the lines of trap or lasso.

PISCO

Level: Intermediate

Pisco is an ideal acclimatization mountain for those looking to do more demanding peaks. While driving to the trailhead, you will pass by the beautiful Llanganuco valley lakes of Chinancocha and Orcococha. The normal route gradually climbs the southwest ridge, and views from the summit are some of the most beautiful of any peak in the Cordillera Blanca, with unrivalled views of Huandoy (6.395 m), Caraz de Parón (6.025 m), Caraz de Santa Cruz (6.020), Alpamayo (5.947 m.), Artesonraju (6.025 m.), Pirámide (5.885 m.), Chacraraju (6.112 m.), Yanapacha (5.460 m.), Chopicalqui (6.345 m.), Huascarán (6.768 m.) and others, making Pisco a necessary excursion on the itinerary of any mountaineer.

CHOPICALQUI

Altitude: 6354 msnm
Level: Easy / Intermediate

Chopicalqui is a beautiful mountain reaching a very respectable altitude, and is one of the highest mountains in the Cordillera Blanca mountain range. Considering this altitude, it’s possible to climb Chopicalqui in a relatively short period of time as the trailhead begins at 3800m, and the mountain is located relatively near the opening of the valley where the car drops you off.

Quitaraju is a popular mountain in the high season, from June to September, during which routes climb both the north face (high rock fall danger), and the less technical west ridge. The normal (west ridge) route often has rappelling stations in place, though be wary to trust these without close inspection and testing. The summit provides stunning views of the southwest face of Alpamayo, Santa Cruz and a group of the Pucahircas.
